Anima Garden by André Heller
An Austrian artist's garden below the Atlas, where the planting is staged like a set.

André Heller is a Viennese artist who spent years assembling this garden, and it does not behave like the others. Paths turn into rooms. A cactus stand gives way to bamboo, then to a clearing with a single sculpture in it, then to a view of the Atlas held between two hedges. Works by Keith Haring and Auguste Rodin sit among Heller's own pieces without any fuss made of them.
The café is named for Paul Bowles and serves lunch under the trees.
Around two and a half hours, thirty-five minutes out of Gueliz. Mornings are cooler and the light is better for the colour.
