Imlil and the Toubkal Foothills
Three to four hours on foot to a shoulder facing Toubkal. A muleteer carries the bags.
Imlil sits at 1,740 meters, ninety minutes and a full season away from Marrakech. You leave the car at the village and continue on foot with a licensed mountain guide and a muleteer who carries whatever you would rather not.
The path climbs through walnut terraces and open irrigation channels to Aroumd, then to a shoulder where Toubkal shows its full 4,167 meters. Three to four hours of walking, unhurried, with stops where the view earns them. Nothing technical, but the gradient is real and the air is thinner than you expect.
Lunch is a tagine at Kasbah du Toubkal or in a village house, taken on a terrace. You are back in the city by early evening. It suits walkers who want altitude without a summit attempt.
