Mountain Biking around Asni

A full day on High Atlas tracks from Imlil down to Asni, with lunch in a village.

Mountain Biking around Asni

The transfer climbs to Imlil at 1,740 meters, where the bikes are waiting and sized to you. Your guide is a mountain leader from the valley, and a support vehicle carries water, spares, and anyone who has had enough. The first descent is loose gravel through walnut terraces.

From there the route runs the old mule tracks toward Asni: irrigation channels on one side, the Toubkal massif behind you, villages of rammed earth where children run alongside for a hundred meters. Around four hours of riding, most of it downhill, with two climbs that ask something of you.

Lunch is tagine and bread in a family house in Asni, eaten on the roof. Riders should be comfortable on a bike and reasonably fit, and fourteen is the minimum age. The bikes are full-suspension and serviced weekly.

Your comfort and privacy

  • Private — your party only
  • Prayer stop included
  • Arabic-speaking guide

Not offered during Ramadan. The ride is strenuous and the village lunch cannot be served in daylight. The Asni souk with a Kasbah Tamadot table runs instead.
