A rug session with a curator
Two and a half hours with someone who takes no commission from anyone selling you a rug.

Buying a rug in Marrakech is not difficult. Buying the right one, at the right price, is. This session puts a curator between you and the market, and she is paid by us, not by the dealers.
You start with the vocabulary: Beni Ourain wool from the Middle Atlas, flatweaves from around Taznakht, Boucherouite made from cut clothing, Azilal with its irregular dye lots. You learn to read the back of a rug, to find the row where a weaver changed her mind, and to tell natural indigo from a chemical bath.
Then you go to two or three ateliers around Mouassine and Rahba Kedima. Buy or do not buy. The advice is the same either way.
