- 12:45 lunch at the port, the day's catch chosen off the ice and grilled in front of you
- 14:15 back along the ramparts, then the beach and the galleries
- 15:05 depart
- 17:40 back in Marrakech in time to change for dinner
Why it works this way
The ramparts and the medina go first because the Atlantic wind stiffens through the afternoon — by three o'clock the Skala is a wind tunnel and the beach is sand at eye level. Five hours on the coast is what remains after a 2h35 transfer each way at a chauffeured pace, and it is enough for the town but not for the town plus a long lunch plus a detour, so we do not sell one. The honest caveat is stated on the page rather than discovered at 10:05: guides agree the Essaouira medina is best before 09:00 and after 16:00, and no day trip from Marrakech can be there before ten. You are buying the coast and the air, not empty lanes. Anyone who wants the empty medina should sleep there, and we will say so.
