The 06:30 departure is not theatre — it is what the arithmetic forces if you want to be at the ksar before the coaches and home before dark, and every serious guide to the site says the same. The transfer is 3h40 each way, not the three hours the listings quote, because the N9 is under phased widening on three sections between Aït Ourir and Ouarzazate with live single-lane running. Two and a half hours at the ksar is enough to climb to the granary and come back across the river without hurrying, and more than that is padding. The whole product is sold with the drive included in the pitch, because a guest who wanted only the ksar will resent the car, and that resentment is the actual failure mode of this day.
