An Afternoon at the Beldi

Three pools under olive trees, a hammam at the back, a lounger held until dusk.

An Afternoon at the Beldi

The Beldi is a working farm before it is a club. The afternoon starts in the gardens: olive rows, a rose field, the glass blowers' workshop, and three pools, one of them heated through winter.

A lounger is held for you under the trees. The hammam is in the old building at the back and the ritual is the plain Moroccan one, black soap, kessa glove, ghassoul, no music. Mint tea after it. Then back to the water until the light comes off the Atlas.

Twenty minutes from Gueliz and it reads as further. Suits a rest day set between two long drives, families with children who need a pool, and anyone who wants water without a hotel built around it.

The gardens and pools stay open through Ramadan. Food is not served in daylight and the hammam runs on shortened hours, so we book the ritual for late afternoon.
